picked a heaping bowl full of oranges from my aunt's tree this afternoon. had to crawl up a ladder since all of the oranges are conveniently at the top of the tree. i was able to clip 30 oranges to split between me and my grandparents (who live next door to my aunt). while i was out in my aunt's yard i took a few random pictures.

third week has come and gone and everything is growing bigger and better each day. the tomato plants are starting to fill up their cages, quick. we still haven't thinned the zucchini plants, i'm kind of scared to... i don't want to kill them by accident. and the peas are starting to grow through the string, i think it'll be okay to remove it now. the birds and gophers seem to be staying away, thank god! and i'm thankful for my grandpa who will walk next store and water the garden if i'm not able to. :)

i can't believe how much the garden has grown in just two weeks. we have a new addition, our resident scarecrow, sweeney. the crows are probably laughing at our attempt to scare them away. we also added some string to the row of peas to keep the pesky crows away or at least make it difficult for them to take off with them. the beans aren't doing so hot. we planted 2 rows and only one is really sprouting. we planted 20 zucchini plants and will thin down to 10. we're going to have zucchini coming out of our ears, but our entire family loves it and there's so much you can make with it. our 4 squash plants are doing great, getting big. and lastly our 8 better boy tomato plants are doing much better, they've perked up a ton.

happy mother's day!

our family spent a nice afternoon together eating delicious BBQ and desserts. the kids played croquet out in the front yard while the rest of us stayed inside to avoid the wild wind (well that was my reason anyway). hope you mothers out there had a special day with your kids and loved ones.

ps. driving past your dad who is pulled over on the side of the road trying to keep flowers from falling out of his saddlebags is the most hilarious thing in the world. really dad? really?
